The Nueces River Authority is engaged in projects to preserve, protect, and develop surface water resources in the Nueces River Basin and two adjacent coastal basins. These include flood control, irrigation, navigation, water supply, wastewater treatment, water quality control, public education and water oriented parks and recreation.
        Nueces River Authority's Jurisdictional Boundaries

The Nueces River Basin comprises much of what is known as South Texas. Encompassing an area of more than 17,000 square miles, it extends from Rocksprings on the Edwards Plateau southward across the Brush Country to Nueces Bay at Corpus Christi. The Nueces Basin is approximately 235 miles long and 115 miles wide. It includes all or parts of 23 counties. Geographically the Nueces Basin can be divided into three segments; Upper, Middle and Lower.

Outreach Projects:
        Wetlands on Wheels
The Aquatic Education Program at the Center for Coastal Studies at TAMUCC is designed to teach the importance of our riparian corridors, fresh water inflow and the health of our bays and estuaries. The portable Wetlands on Wheels trailer has been used at a variety of events, such as Bayfest, the Hummingbird Festival and the Sea Fair, and area schools. Mini lectures are given on environmental issues and the importance of these waterways for humans and animals alike.

NRA personnel helps with these presentations, allowing for more events to be attended. Read More...
