The goal of the Texas Clean Rivers Program (CRP) is to maintain and improve the quality of water resources within each river basin in Texas through an ongoing partnership involving the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, other agencies, river authorities, regional entities, local governments, industry and citizens. The program uses a watershed management approach to identify and evaluate water quality issues, establish priorities for corrective action, and work to implement those actions.


The Clean River Program Goals are to:
      Encourage Comprehensive Watershed Planning
      Identify Pollutant Sources
      Provide a Scientific Approach to Water Quality Issues
      Focus on Priority Issues
      Prevent and Reduce Polluction at the Source
      Ensure Better Use of Public Funds
      Promote Water Conservation
      Provide Assistance for Local Initiatives
